Life for a Child Programme in Bangladesh

Transforming Lives, One Child at a Time

The Life for a Child (LFAC) Programme in Bangladesh, a collaborative initiative between BADAS (Bangladesh Diabetic Association) and Diabetes Australia, began its noble journey in July 2010. This vital program aims to provide comprehensive and free medical support to underprivileged young diabetics, ranging from 1 to 26 years of age.

Our Objectives:

  • Free Basic Medical Care:
  • Ensuring that young diabetics receive essential medical supplies and care at no cost, including:
  • Offer comprehensive care, including medical consultations and diabetes education.
  • Insulin
  • Glucometers
  • Glucometer Strips
  • Lancets
  • Syringes
  • HbA1c Tests
  •  Albuminuria Tests
  • Insulin Pens

 Our Reach and Impact:

LFAC now extends its supportive hand to 58 out of the 64 districts in Bangladesh. Recognizing that many patients cannot afford to travel to the Dhaka center, insulin is distributed to peripheral diabetes centers across the country. Since its inception, LFAC has enrolled 4,100 children, adolescents, and young adults. Of these, 692 patients receive insulin directly from the Dhaka center.

Research and Development:

In partnership with the Diabetes Australia (Sydney, Australia), we are conducting significant research initiatives aimed at improving the understanding and management of diabetes in developing countries. Our collaborative research focuses on identifying and addressing the unique challenges faced by young diabetics in under-resourced regions.

By partnering on these research projects, we strive to create a comprehensive picture of diabetes among children and youth in less-resourced countries. This knowledge will help us, and others, to advocate for more effective diabetes care solutions and ultimately improve the lives of young diabetics worldwide.

Join Us in Our Mission

Together, with our global partners, we are committed to making significant strides in diabetes research and care. Our goal is to ensure that every child with diabetes receives the best possible support and treatment, no matter where they live.
